Introduction

Malabar Bible Fellowship (MBF), a registered society (194/1976), has been actively engaged in disaster mitigation and relief efforts in Kerala. Following the 2018 and 2019 floods and landslides, MBF recognized the urgent need for shelter and livelihood assistance.

 

Land Donation

Mr. Tomy Cherian Thalachirakuzhy, a Christian philanthropist, donated 2 acres (80 ares) of ancestral land near Ambayathode, Thamarassery, for community rehabilitation. The land is valued highly and will provide housing for 20 homeless families.

 

Project Objectives

1. Provide shelter for 20 homeless families from Kozhikode, Malappuram, and Wayanad districts.
2. Offer livelihood assistance and skill training.
3. Conduct counselling services, area-specific development activities, and de-addiction programs.

 

Project Details

– 20 housing units (600-650 sq. ft. each) with 2 bedrooms, hall, kitchen, and amenities.
– Estimated project cost: Rs. 259.64 lakhs.
– Breakdown:
1. Construction: Rs. 200 lakhs
2. Access road: Rs. 15 lakhs
3. Electric connection: Rs. 7 lakhs
4. Water supply: Rs. 10 lakhs
5. Permissions, taxes, and unforeseen expenses: Rs. 27.64 lakhs

 

Implementation

– Committee/Board of Trustees to identify and shortlist beneficiaries.
– Construction to begin upon securing necessary permissions and funding.

Donor Recognition

– Sponsor names displayed on blocks of houses.
– Acknowledgement of donations.
